How do we as parents and grandparents ensure our children stay fluent in Russian and have a deep understanding of our culture? We continue to surround them with our language and influences. This group for young children and families of Russian and Ukrainian descent meets for play groups and other fun family activities. If you have Russian grandparents and nannies that help care for your children, please encourge them to participate as well. 

I'm a mother of a two and a half year old little boy and am trying hard to keep Russian alive in the household. It's important that my child continues to learn Russian and appreciate his culture from a young age. Despite speaking Russian at home, as he starts to attend English speaking schools, he is quickly picking up English as his first language. I feel that if he is surrounded by other children who understand him and speak to him in Russian, he will grasp on to it just as well. I'm sure there are many other parents in this same position and I look forward to meeting you all.
