912 Firearms Safety Range Day

Firearms Safety Range Day

Be Comfortable with Your Firearm through Knowledge and Target Practice

Come out on this beautiful Sunday to attend a firearms safety class and then practice on the range for target practice.  Certainly nothing replaces these activities for instilling safety.

The safety class will begin at about 1:15.  Then open target practice with the assist of rangers.  One of the ranges is reserved for our group and we will cover specifics at the class.

Feel free to arrive or leave anytime throughout the afternoon.  We have the range until 5pm.

This is an outdoor range, dress according to the weather.

Bring ear and eye protection, is mandatory!  Any glasses will do as I am told, but I did purchase sound cancelling ear muffs at walmart.  Target does not carry.

Bring your firearms and range ammo.  Our range price will be $20.

Please sign in when you arrive at the welcome table.

More info to come later, but for now we need head counts!  Please RSVP and bring the family for a terrific day.

Chuck Wagon will be on hand serving Hot dogs and hamburgers, so you may want to eat before you arrive or grab a burger at the range.

If you are new to 912 this is a great meetup to attend and get to know others.

ALL Firearms must be encased when brought to the public line.

Minors must be accompanied by an adult willing to take responsibility for their actions.

Women and men, no sandals and no low cut or "muscle" shirts due to improbable but possible danger of  hot casings on the ground or ejecting down a shirt!  Not common, just a rule!

The Safety class however will begin at 1:15,
then target practice is open.  Range Officers will assist and oversee our
activities.  S Pinellas 912 and 912 Leaders are not responsible for any
accidents.  Please attend the safety class and follow all instruction from
rangers.

Specific Questions can be directed to the Antelope Club at 573-3006.

Here is an overview of the initial instruction from the rangers, which will be covered at 1:15.

Drive slowly along range entrance and park on either side of range parking lot

DO NOT TAKE WEAPONS OUT OF CAR YET

Follow South Pinellas 912 sign to picnic tables/awnings in front of lodge (look for American Flag Pole)

At picnic table area we will give orientation.

Please sign in the S Pinellas 912 log in and please also note if this is your first time shooting.

Sign in and fee collection will either be in the picnic table area or may have to be at range office. We will let you know at
the beginning.

After sign in and fees collection, there will be an approximately 30-45 minute class key
points of safety, general weapon use, condensed concealed carry, and home
storage.

After the class we will begin shooting. We have
two range officers who will stay with us as long as possible. Range officers will also explain as much of
the following at the range. The
following includes basic range operations are included here to begin orienting you if you
haven’t been to range recently.

We have the mulit-purpose (50 yard range) to ourselves for PISTOL only. There are 16 fireing positions in this area.

If you want to shoot rifle or shot-gun, you can
go up to the main range and do
that.
If you haven’t ever fired, the
range officer will walk you up to the rifle range. This area is usually fairly crowded.

For both pistol and rifle range, TAKE ALL
DIRECTIONS FROM THE RANGE OFFICER IN CHARGE (over speaker
) and DO EXACTLY
WHAT HE SAYS.
Eye/ear protection must be worn and no tank tops or sandals can be
worn.

For shotguns, you must fire slugs only, no buckshot.

Again, Range Officers will assist and oversee our
activities.  S Pinellas 912 and 912 Leaders are not responsible for any
accidents.  Please attend the safety class and follow all instruction from
rangers.

    "Mah hand's a-hurtin'!"
Had a great time gaining experience with my "Christmas present"; looking forward to the next one. Thanks to Pete and the other SP912 team members who put this together. Glad to see Commissioner Roche spending time with normal people.

I had a good time, Met some nice people, and got a bullseye with my 12 Ga.
I really appreciated the update on the issues. Even though I am not working I contributed to the legal fund. I hope everyone will follow suit. These petty tyrants must be stopped.

Disappointed. I took the day off work and my guest drove up from Sarasota in order to attend. Little did we know that 2 Walmarts, Dick's, Sports authority, and two independent firearms stores were completely sold out out of just about every kind of ammunition. Got plenty of the good stuff at home but I'm not about to use it at the range if I cannot replace it. Guess we should have known better because of the gun control battle going on. I hope that all the people who did buy up all that ammo are not putting more than 10 rounds in their magazines.

I hear you there. I'm out of .22LR and couldn't find any to shoot my ruger with. Had to leave it at home.

Had a BLAST! Thanks to all the organizers for putting on such a great event! I enjoyed talking with Norm and the other members about the issues that bother us the most right now in the bay area. (rail, term limits, taxes). Barb, your information was VERY good and although I'm not happy to hear such things going on in our county, I am pleased that you presented it to us. We have a LOT of work ahead of us! I'm looking forward to seeing Norm at the RLC of Tampa Bay meeting in a few weeks as well! Thanks to all the organizers that made this event go so smoothly!!

Barb/organizers, I'll be there with some of my family and I'm really looking forward to shooting some of my new guns with a bunch of like minded 912'ers. Next month, the RLC of Tampa Bay is having Norm Roche as our guest speaker. You wouldn't mind if I hand out flyers do you? We are supporting him against Ed Hooper locally and want to invite the 912's to support him as well (as I'm sure most will). Let me know! Feel free to email me at TimRodocker@LibertyTampaBay and/or check out the RLC for more info here: http://www.meetup.com/Republican-Liberty-Caucus-of-Tampa-Bay/about/ I also have videos on that page of the local candidates and speakers that we've been inviting to speak with our group. Looking forward to meeting everyone at the event!!! I can finally break in my new AR's :) :) :) :)

A cooler and zippered bag both meet the definition of 'encased' - cooler must have a latch.

"Firearms must be encased when brought to the public line."
I have a zippered overnight bag, and a cooler-style Igloo lunch box with latching lid. Does either one of those meet the definition of "encased"? Thanks.

Wish there was a "maybe" status. I'll be working that morning, but will get off asap and get over there. I'll bring along my Dad and my brother's family. Been wanting to check out WAC before getting a membership for a while now.
