Thank you for letting me take a brief moment to welcome you to the S-kimos Ski and Outdoor Social Club on the occasion of the acceptance of our 100th member. We are thrilled with the response we have received during what is typically an 'offseason' from our busy winter schedule. Thank you to all of you who have joined us for one of our hiking, canoeing, cycling, clambaking, beaching, and general partying events since our meetup inception four months ago. And for those of you who haven't yet had an opportunity to attend a Skimo event I encourage you to check out our calander, the photos of past events, most recently the Canoe/Luau Weekend, to see what you have been missing, and to plan ahead for more fun and companionship taking place over the next few months. We are planning a 'meet & greet' at King's Bowling Alley in September and at least one hike, coming on Columbus Day Sunday. Activities ramp up in December and into the ski season when we will have weekly events in and around our lodge in Jackson, New Hampshire. Don't be shy about providing me with ideas for events that you are interested in as well.
This Saturday our favorite band, 'Desperate Measures' is playing a memorial fundraiser in Attleboro at the Elks outdoor park bandstand. Tickets are only $15 (children under 17 free) and it is for a worthy cause. Come out, enjoy the wonderful summer weather while you can, and enjoy a terrific band.
Meet other ski and outdoor sports enthusiasts to share our passion for outdoor activities. Founded in 1956 the Skimos have provided a year round outlet for members to enjoy the fantastic natural resources that New England offers. The Skimo lodge nestled in the quaint, historic, Jackson, New Hampshire allows members to escape to the wonders of the White Mountain Region and a more peaceful environment. On event weekends members over 21 years of age can guest overnight at the Jackson lodge for a nominal fee. Members meet in the Boston area for food and drinks to plan social and outdoor activities. Up north we meet to downhill ski White Mountain Region resorts such as Wildcat (10 mins away from our lodge), Attitash, Sunday River, and Bretton Woods, and X-country the Ellis River in Jackson and surrounding Nordic centers. We also meet to hike, kayak, and cycle the gorgeous areas around Jackson as well as southern NH and Boston locale. And we meet to socialize all over New England.
