July OpenStack Meetup - Deploying OpenStack with DevStack at Geekdom

Hey Stackers, let's deploy OpenStack!

Let's get together at Geekdom and build OpenStack using DevStack on your laptop or Virtual Machine.

Our July speaker/presenter is: Kent Baxley, Field Engineer with Canonical. Kent will discuss a few methods for deploying OpenStack then walk everyone through deploying OpenStack using DevStack.

Suggested preparation will be forthcoming as this meetup gets closer but you will want to start thinking about where you can deploy Ubuntu and DevStack. You may want to run Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on an old laptop, a virtual machine (Virtual Box or VMware) or a cloud server.

Agenda:

Lets meet at 6:30 for beer and pizza and start hacking away around 6:45

Please RSVP soon so we can plan accordingly.

Thanks!

I really enjoyed the devstack meetup. I really enjoyed Kent Baxley's talk about the alternative methods of setting Openstack and the Ubuntu Cloud Installer. I also enjoyed the community that was present at the meetup. Everyone was very generous and easy to talk to. Good job Ben and Rainya!

Hey Stackers, I look forward to seeing everyone at Geekdom tomorrow night. If you are going to deploy OpenStack using Devstack at the workshop you should take a look at Devstack.org and ensure you have a cloud server, VM or laptop with a fresh Linux image on it. Setting up OpenStack with Devstack is fast but it could be hard to keep up if you are downloading and setting up virtualbox, downloading an Ubuntu image and setting up git at the last minute. Also, I have received a few questions over the last month. All experience levels are welcome. If you are new to OpenStack and don't know where to start this is a really great opportunity to be with your peers and learn a simple way to get your hands dirty with OpenStack. Thanks,
    Ben
