Join Dennis Harrison as he presents the Iroquois Thanksgiving Address

Iroquois Thanksgiving Address
“Ohenton Kariwahtekwen"
The Thanksgiving Address is presented often at Iroqois gatherings as appreciation for all living relatives on the planet and is a central component of Iroquois spirituality. Dennis Harrison has learned about his Iroquois heritage from clan elders and is led to share this tradition with others who are interested. Dennis will present an abbreviated version of the address at Sacred Lands. Those who attend will be touched by the beauty and sincerity of this presentation. So join us and bring others with you. You will be glad you did!

“Thankfulness is the beginning of all knowledge and all understanding.”
- Prelude to the beginning of the Thanksgiving Address

Traditionally, the full Thanksgiving Address is a ceremony that lasts several days; with an abbreviated version being offered before the beginning of important gatherings or when significant matters are to be discussed.
The ceremonial thanksgiving prayer, Ohenton Kariwahtekwen, is a heart teaching and one of the most precious gifts of our native people. It is an inspiring experience and beautiful reminder of the importance and Sacredness of thankfulness.

Dennis inspired us to be grateful on a daily basis for all that is around us and most importantly to know that we are loved and not alone.
