Title: Bitcoin, the digital crypto-currency
Abstract: This talk will be about Bitcoin, the digital crypto-currency. Leo will cover the specifics of how it works, why it has utility, what you can do with it, and try to answer any technical and other questions.
Speaker: Leo Treasure has spent several years learning about bitcoins and how they work. A university colleague and close friend encapsulated his transition from higher education to the land of bitcoin by asserting: "So what you're saying is you've dropped out of Tafe to mine bitcoins!"
Starting out with two top of the line graphics cards in mid-2011 at the peak of the bubble that saw the price topple from a high of[masked] to a low of[masked] (4 months later), he set up a mining rig and got to work.
Leo is currently studying Communications & Media.
