SARR Sunday Long Run - 10 Miles

PLEASE NOTE!!!

**NEW VENUE and NEW 10 MILE COURSE**

This will be a fun 10-miler on the Salado Creek Greenway that runs between Walker Ranch Park, Hardberger Park and the trailhead at Huebner Rd.

This will be a change of pace from our usual runs starting at Valero to give you different scenery to experience this week.

This course will be an out and back run as follows:

We'll start from the Salado Creek Trailhead in Walker Ranch Park and head along the paved trail to Hardberger Park. We'll continue on the trail thru Hardberger Park taking one detour to run the 1-mile "Water Loop" in Hardberger Park before continuing on the paved greenway again to the trailhead at Huebner Rd.

We'll turn around there and head back to Hardberger Park, again taking that detour onto the 1-mile "Water Loop", and then continuing on the greenway trail back thru Hardberger Park and back to Walker Ranch Park.

The course is 5 miles out and 5 miles back with some gentle slopes, all paved except for a few spots on the Water Loop that's gravel based.

There's plenty of parking at Walker Ranch Park, and there are port-o-potties in both Walker Ranch Park and Hardberger Park.

The course will have directional signs along the way and hand-out directions will be provided.

Water will be provided: 1) at the start/finish, and 2) under the Blanco Rd. bridge at Hardberger Park so that you'll pass it twice along the run (about a third of the way in and again about two-thirds on the way back).

SEE YOU THERE!

  • Helen P.

What are the range of paces that you usually have at your runs?

    1 · February 14, 2014

    • Jim M.

It's really a wide range: anywhere from 7 min miles to 12+ min miles. The average is about a 9-10 min mile.

There are normally all sorts of paces so almost anyone could have someone to run with :)

Just to remind everyone that WE'RE NOT AT VALERO this coming Sunday. We'll be at Walker Ranch Park for a change of pace and new scenery. I ran it earlier this week and it's a good course. Hope you enjoy it. See you there!
