How about a little charity work – both rewarding and a good workout?! We will be volunteering at the LA Food Bank to sort food or prepare boxes to be delivered to families in the LA area in need. We'll be working from 8:45 am until about 12pm.
Disclaimer: This is hard work...you may have to lift heavy items and you will be standing the whole time! You may break a nail or two (teehee). Also, our group may get separated into smaller groups of 2-3 people, so please be patient with the situation and remember...this is for charity.
I have done this several times now and our group does this work 2-3 times a year - it is actually pretty fun. The food bank raffles off a few prizes for people who bring 4 cans of food to donate. I know you cooks out there probably have some extra cans of food in your cupboard you could donate... and maybe win a prize. No expired stuff please.
Some important notes:
1) Be sure to wear closed toe shoes (tennis shoes are great), this is a must! LA Regional Food Bank coordinators will turn you away if you do not have proper foot wear on!
2) Please DON'T BE A NO SHOW...the food bank counts on us to show up to help when we say we are coming. Kindly update your RSVP on or before Saturday, Mar 16th, if your plans change. Please be committed to the event if you sign up.
3) All volunteers must register and sign in at the event.
