Afternoon Tidepools Hike in Palos Verdes

Join us on a short 3 mile, 200 ft elev gain hike to the Palos Verdes coast.

We'll start at the east end of the Trump Golf Course, walk along scenic cliffs and make our way down to the shore at low tide to see starfish, sea anemones and other interesting creatures in the tidepools. We will then relax on a beach for a few minutes before heading back up to our cars.

Along the way, we'll talk about the continuing issues between the golf course and Palos Verdes regarding beach and trail access.

Bring: 1 liter of water, comfortable shoes (that may get wet, hiking boots are highly suggested for ankle support on the rocks but not technically necessary), hat/ sun protection, snack, and a good attitude.

Meet at the Free La Rotonda Dr parking lot (east of the main Ocean Trails entrance). Take 110 freeway south until it becomes Gaffey St. Keep going south and turn right (west) on 25th St. Past Westen Avenue intersection (just after entering City of Palos Verdes), turn left on La Rotonda Dr and drive .25 miles to parking lot. La Rotonda is a small street, with no light, but a left lane turn. If you drive to the main Ocean Trails entrance (evidenced by a big American Flag), you've gone a half mile too far.

Very cool meetup at the tide pools! good to meet you all. We were fortunate enough to see a rather large sea slug today, along with cold water sea amenomes.

Stuck in 110 traffic. Is trail easy to see? Is abalone cove/tide pools easy to get to?

I am on my way. My gps says it's gonna take me a long long time to get there so I'm gonna try to be early, but don't leave me if I'm a few minutes late!

Sorry, but we're going through an area where dogs aren't allowed. Blame the golf course, not me

I'm confused - are we supposed to park at the lot at the end of La Rotunda Drive, or do we turn off somewhere before then? My car is not going to show 0.25 miles, 1 mile is my odometer's minimum

You can't miss the parking lot, basically when you can no longer drive forward, you will have to park.
