Hey Party People!

Come on out and join the Sierra Club 20s & 30s section for another fun-filled adventure as we escape the daily grind and return to Pinnacles National Park! The Park was established in 1908 to preserve the incongruent and beautiful rock formations which will be the backdrop for our hikes.  Pinnacles became California's newest National Park just last year after having been signed into law.  Spring is a great time to go as it brings good weather, migrating birds, and blooming wildflowers so don't forget your cameras!

Pinnacles National Park is a release site for the endangered California condor.  The park currently manages 32 free-flying condors, carefully monitoring each after its release to increase its chances of survival.  We may see some of these majestic birds in flight during the hikes.  Our hiking plans also include exploring a real bat cave (the park is home to 14 of the 23 species of bats found in California!).

Cost of this FUNtastic trip is just $119 and includes campsite fees and all meals from Friday's dinner until Sunday's lunch.  Leader-led hikes will be tossed in at no additional charge and will range in length (6-8 miles) with 300-1,300 ft elevation gain.  Restrooms with flush toilets are a short walk from our campsite. Coin-operated showers are a short distance as well.  A $5-per-vehicle park entrance pass is not included.

All participants will need to bring their own tent (or share one), sleeping bag and sleeping pad, reusable dinnerware, and a good attitude!  Parking is limited so participants are encouraged to carpool.  (Carpooling is strictly voluntary and the Sierra Club assumes no liability for any arrangements.)  Participants will be expected to help with meal prep/clean up and campsite setup & cleanup.  Participants will also be required to sign aliability waiver in order to participate.

Address to send payment will be emailed to participants after RSVP is received.  We're taking fewer people this time so don't delay.  Sign up and send in your payment today!  Any questions, comments, or concerns?  Give us a shout below!

Great trip with fantastic sights. The little rain didn't dampen our spirits!

I bought an air pump that everyone can use. It plugs into the car outlet so we don't have to worry about charging it.

Hey Jason, I saw that this event is cross posted with another meetup which still has openings, so I'll sign up through that one.

Sorry but that's the same trip so there's still no openings at the moment. I've been out of town for a few days and haven't been able to update that meetup yet. My apologies.

Airbed mattress with missing pump. Is anyone bringing an electric pump and will lend to fellow camper?

Hi Meng. I'll email the other participants and see if anybody has one you can use.

Hello! I would love to come along but I have to figure out a few things with work before I RSVP. I see there is a deadline, is there also a max # of people allowed to come? Will I still be able to sign up within the next few days?

    March 23, 2014

    • Jason H

Hi Jaclyn. Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately, the trip is currently full at the moment (and yes, there is a max # of people i'm taking). You're welcome to sign up and get on the waitlist in case we have any last-minute cancellations.

I have an extra tent you can borrow as long as you promise not to destroy it like the last person that borrowed a tent from me did. =)
