Newcomer's Hike and Potluck: Trippet Ranch to Topanga Parker Mesa Overlook

Hi outdoor lovers!

Join fellow 20 and 30 something newcomers this Sunday morning to learn about the Sierra Club, meet fellow outdoor lovers and get some grub.

This will be an easy-paced Newcomer hike on a wide fire-road. Hike is 6 miles RT, 800 ft gain/loss. There is some uphill incline, but we will go at a social pace. We will have a potluck lunch/brunch at the Parker Mesa Overlook before we head back. Please bring snacks and food to share.

This great hike starts from Trippet Ranch in Topanga State Park and goes to the Parker Mesa Overlook. The first section of the trail leads you through a lovely oak grove with lush green grass. At the Parker Mesa Overlook you can see the LA basin and the ocean on a clear day.

Bring sturdy shoes, 2 liters water, a hat, sunscreen, light jacket and food to share for the potluck.

No dogs.

Meet at the Sepulveda Orange Line Park & Ride rideshare point at 8:15am or at the parking lot by the Topanga Park entrance kiosk at 9:30am. Sepulveda Orange Line Rideshare at is located at: 5430 & 15432 W Erwin St (off of Sepulveda). Look for a forest green Ford Focus hatchback with Inno hood racks.

Topanga Park: From Topanga Canyon Boulevard, turn east on Entrada Road; that's to the left if you are coming from the San Fernando Valley. Follow Entrada Road by turning left at every opportunity until you arrive at Topanga State Park. The trailhead is at the end of the parking lot. (Lat:[masked] Lon:[masked])

Parking is $10 in the lot (unless you have a State Park pass). There is limited free street parking along Entrada Road before the park entrance, but read signs carefully--do not park in a no parking area because you will get a ticket.

Cancellation Policy:
Rain of any kind cancels.

Please bring your own plate/bowl/cup and/or fork that you can pack in and out for the potluck. If possible, please share what you plan on bringing on Sunday. I will bring cheese and crackers.
