We're on!

This is the date that had been originally scheduled, so I'm sticking to it for now, despite the short notice.

I'd love to see anyone who can still attend.  If it's too much of a hardship I would consider another meeting next week, which would be the second Monday.  Otherwise, we'll pick up with the second Monday of every month from 7-9 PM August 12th.

This is not set in stone, but I'd like to put the dates out there so you can all see how it fits in your schedules.  I'm hoping we can accommodate everybody, but if not we'll have to go with the majority.  I intend to hold additional meetings as often as is practical and I can line up topics and speakers/panels, so there should be something for everybody.

Don't forget to check the Discussion link on the menu bar below our group name.  I expect we'll have lively discussions there, starting with introductions, and eventually even (gasp!) controversy.

I'm open to input, people.  Write on!

Sorry I didn't make it. I am currently going through a divorce, and due to the separation I am living two hours from St. Cloud until August. See you all in August.

Good meeting! The critiques were insightful and gratifying, and the discussion was great. Looking forward to more!

It's always great to talk with other writers, esp ones so gifted and fun.

Without consistent attendance it's hard to develop relevant procedures.

Thank you for the info, Dan. If that's been working, we can sure stick with it. Personally, I like the mix of a prompt and a WIP (work in progress) swap.

Then we decide on the next month's prompt. For those who can squeeze it in, the one for tomorrow is "had to have" And as we say at every meeting, all this is subject to change, addition, or subtraction as the group sees fit. Or our new leader. lol For now, anybody attending tomorrow should bring something they have written that they would like to trade for reviewing and, if they can if in the short amount of time, a writing on the prompt.

Hi Carol, I was also at the first meeting. We(about 8-10 of us) have continued to meet at the same caribou as the first meeting. We finally got through to Nancy...she had the postponed message for so long. Lynn has been reserving the conference room for us each month. In general, what we have been doing in our meetings is first we usually each read our prompt writings...we choose a prompt at the previous mtg and we all write something based on this same subject or picture. It can be a poem or a short story. Any where from a few lines up to a limit of 1000 words. Then we go over works that we traded the previous month for reviewing at home. We do this in groups of 3 or 4. Then we decide what the groups will be for the next month and trade another piece of work.

Barnes & Noble event May 7, Tuesday, 7 pm an internationally known local author William Kent Krueger (he writes the NYTimes Best Selling Cork O'Conner mystery series) will be doing a book-signing. I plan on being there to buy him a coffee and talk about getting happily published while having great fun and making good money. I'd love to see the group show up, give him some attention and lean on him for the information/knowledge/wisdom someone so successful and experienced would have. I know we have a meet-up scheduled for May 13 Monday, at 7 -9 at Caribou, but if you're serious about writing as a career, you're serious about getting published - you're already good enough.

Nancy, My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time. Although you and I have not met, while you are gone, if there is anything I can do to help you, please let me know...I have no plans to be away from St. Cloud in the near future so if I can pick up deliveries/mail, run any errands, etc...

What are you talking about? We had the meeting and got a lot done. We gave ourselves assignments and scheduled the next meeting for the second Monday in May....I sent you a personal email about it. The St Cloud Writers Salon is already established. IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS, JUST APPOINT ME AND LYNN AS ASS'T ADMINISTRATORS AND WE WILL KEEP RUNNING IT UNTIL YOU FEEL YOU CAN COME BACK.....you already have all the information you need...the Writers Salon does not have to stop for this personal crisis and it might not even if you cancel it. Eh?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
