About Suzie's Farm:
Suzie’s Farm is located on seventy beautiful acres near the Tijuana Estuary, 13 miles south of downtown San Diego. Founded by Robin Taylor and Lucila De Alejandro in 2009, they are a USDA-certified organic farm that grows over 100 different types of crops per year. Suzie’s Farm products are found in many area Farmers Markets, grocery stores and restaurants, and through its Good Farm Box, Farm Raiser and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs.
General Tour Information:
The tour consist of a 90 minute walkabout of Suzie's farm, guided by their skilled field hands. They cover many topics to engage participants, and will address the meaning and importance of organic farming in a modern and age appropriate context. Throughout the tour they perform hands-on field tests of crops. Tips for the tour docent are welcomed, but not required.
Suzie's farm is a working farm, so here are a few reminders for visitors:
- Bring water bottles and sunscreen. Public drinking water will not be available. Portable toilets and hand-washing stations are located throughout the fields.
- We recommend wearing layers as the farm can have inclement weather (very hot and sunny or very windy, cold, and muddy).
- Wearing long pants and close-toed shoes are best as it's very dusty and there might be rocks or tools, ants or rough patches. Your safety is our priority.
- It is important for anyone with allergies (bees, plants, etc) to bring any medication they may need to the farm.
From Interstate 5, exit Palm Avenue. Head west to the first intersection and turn LEFT onto Saturn Blvd. Follow Saturn for approximately 1.4 miles, head down the hill and you will see the sign for Kiki Town on the right, after the Border Patrol station. Please park by the green Farm Stand along Saturn Blvd near the entrance of “Kiki Town”.
After the tour, those who would like to do so can have a picnic lunch (bring your own) together at the picnic tables and socialize.
Any questions, please email me via meetup or call [masked].
