The Network for a Healthy California and the San Diego Public Market is celebrating Food Day with activities for the family.
The event is to promote healthy, low-cost and locally grown foods. There will be a tour of the newly opened San Diego Public Market where we will meet farmers, learn about ways to save money, how to store fruits and vegetables, and get nutrition tips. There will also be healthy recipe demonstration and tasting. A FREE cookbook will be given out.
Date: Wednesday, October 24th
Time: Meet at 11:45am (Tour starts at 12pm)
Location: San Diego Public Market, 1735 National Avenue, San Diego 92113
This event is open to the public, so there will be non-meetup people taking the tour with us. We will meet by the front entrance of the Market. I will have a Meetup sign with me.
The Network for a Healthy California (Network) mission is to create innovative partnerships that empower low-income Californians to increase fruit and vegetable consumption, physical activity, and food security with the goal of preventing obesity and other diet related chronic diseases. The San Diego Public Market is new and set up more like Pike's Place in Seattle, Philly's Reading Station Market or London's Borough Market. I know this event is in the middle of the day during the week, but if any of you can make it that would be great! Flyer for the San Diego Food Day is available in our Files folder (under More tab).
