Are you interested in attending The Winter's Tale @ The Old Globe?

We will probably attend on a Saturday in March. Discounted tickets will be around $50 apiece. NPR calls Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein “one of the country’s leading Shakespeareans.” Now Edelstein’s work takes center stage in his Old Globe directorial debut with Shakespeare’s most enchanting masterpiece, featuring a powerful musical score written expressly for The Winter’s Tale by acclaimed classical composer Michael Torke. The Winter’s Tale sweeps breathtakingly from tragedy to comedy and along the way visits kings and queens, dancing shepherds, a most extraordinary statue, and one notoriously hungry bear, before it reaches its stunning, magical conclusion.

Which Old Globe Shakespeare Festival play would you like to see most this summer?

It seems like a long way off, but the Old Globe Theatre is already gearing up for its Shakespeare Festival! It would be great to take our Meetup group again this summer. Which of these three plays (two from Will and one by Tom Stoppard) tickles your fancy? A Midsummer Night's Dream: Fall under the spell of Shakespeare’s most joyful and popular comedy. Filled with magic, humor, music and spectacle, the merriment unfolds in an enchanted forest where fairies play tricks on unsuspecting lovers and bumbling actors are transformed beyond their wildest dreams. The Merchant of Venice: Shakespeare’s unforgettable tale of mercy and justice, generosity and greed. The Merchant of Venice weaves together humor and pathos in a spellbinding, suspenseful drama. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead: Fast-paced and irresistibly funny, Tom Stoppard’s Tony Award-winning farce turns Shakespeare’s Hamlet inside out.

Which Old Globe production would you most like to see with the group this summer?

AS YOU LIKE IT is one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies about flirtation, friendship and mistaken identity; a lighthearted look at the fickle and passionate nature of love. INHERIT THE WIND is one of the great American dramas of the 20th century, as rousing and relevant today as it was in 1955. Two great lawyers face off in a small-town courtroom with the eyes of an entire nation upon them. The accused? A high school teacher. His crime? Teaching evolution. Loosely based on the real-life Scopes Monkey Trial. RICHARD III is one of the most diabolical and outrageous villains in all of literature. A ruthless Machiavellian, the brilliant and power-hungry lord embarks on a bloody campaign to seize and keep the English crown.

Which type of sticker would you prefer?

It's going to be a busy night for SDMA's "Midnight in Paris" on Friday and it would be great if we could identify all of our Meetup buddies. Not everyone likes name tags, though, so please choose your favorite option! Thanks.
