San Diego SQL Business Intelligence Group Meeting!

Join us beginning at 6:00PM for light refreshments and networking with Business Intelligence professionals followed by a technical presentation on a current SQL Server BI topic. Our technical presentation is from 6:30PM to 8:30PM. We are an official affiliate of PASS (The Professional Association for SQL Server).

The Monthly meetings are free and everyone is welcome. Hope to see you there. Please RSVP.

This months presentation:

(DW) ETL Design Patterns for Performance:We'll cover common performance challenges in DW / Data-Integration and options for addressing these with SQL and/or SSIS.  Specific topics will include extract techniques, dimension processing patterns, fact processing patterns, and techniques for finding and addressing performance bottle-necks.

(BI) PowerPivot / Tabular Data Model Fundamentals:We'll briefly cover the fundamental components of Tabular models, the Vertipaq Engine and the underlying architecture.  Then we'll focus on the core dimensional modeling concepts that should drive your model design, and we'll address some of the worst-practices that may technically work in PPvt / Tabular, but that deliver less-than-optimal results in Enterprise models.  And finally, I'll share some of my experiences in the real-world delivering analytic solutions with PowerPivot.
