The CivicLab is a new social enterprise under construction - a space for activists and technologists to build tools that accelerate civic engagement and community improvement efforts.
Our next meeting is this Thurs 10/18 at Pumping Station One, 3519 N. Elson, 7pm-9pm, to talk up the "Apps For Activists" project. This is about creating apps that solve recurring problems that organizers have, creating apps that would speed up their work and make reaching and informing people about civic work more efficient and effective.

What is Pumping Station One?
Pumping Station One is a hackerspace located in Chicago. Its mission is to foster a collaborative environment wherein people can explore and create intersections between technology, science, art, and culture.
What are we?
We are a collaborative environment for people to explore the intersections between technology, art and culture. We are a hacker space similar to others such as the Cowtown Computer Congress, NYC Resistor, NoiseBridge, HACDC, and other groups around the country.
We also fulfill our role as a community resource by hosting classes on electronics, programming, crafts, and any other skills that members (or guests) are willing to share.
Where are we?
We’re an eclectic group of people who build, hack, make, and create things in general. We moved to a new (to us) space, 3x bigger than the old one, at 3519 N. Elston Ave. in June 2012.
