Comfortably Unaware: How Food Choices are Harming Our Planet Date(s) While environmental eff orts are generally focused on the energy sector, waste management, and water conservation, Dr. Oppenlander brings 40 years of research to show how our food choices are harming the environment by damaging our climate and exhausting our natural resources. He will explain the most sustainable option for our bodies, the animals, and the earth and give practical and simple advice you can adopt at your next meal. Thu,4/17/2014

It's following his speech thus far. I hope I learn more as the pages progress.

Yeah, sometimes the lectures are summaries of the books.....Still, reading in addition to the lecture solidifies the concepts and the ideas that much more. Also, it is a great cause to contribute to. Supporting people like Dr. O is important.

Hello everyone: I am planning to invite him back in the fall, so far, I have about 5 people, an environmental education center on my side to hear him. However, I need ideas in order to have the event to take place, I need team-mates to contact places/venue to host him, UWM, Alverno, public gathering places, I cannot do this by myself. Let me know if you want to make a difference and making strides towards a just, kinder, gentler planet. Ahimsa!

After reading the posts I'm sad I had to miss it. I will be looking into his book too. Thanks everyone.

Elizabeth, he will be coming back in the fall, perhaps, our group here can brain storm a bit, do a little net-working and invite him back. I know he will be in MU and I am working with another group to host him. Any ideas out there?

Having been vegetarian for so many years, I didn't learn anything new and I went in hoping that I would. However, the audience was filled with people for whom this was new information, and from that perspective, the talk was awesome.

I couldn't believe the comment made by the gentleman after the lecture who said I eat meat in moderation. I was so impressed with the doctor's answer and respect he said he had to them. I knew the information, too, but I brought a friend and he was so wowed. Completely worth every second!

There are probably going to be a lot of people at this venue, so meeting up beforehand might be difficult. Should we plan to meet to at least say hello afterwards? I haven't been to the Rondelle in ages, but I think there's a foyer we could meet in after the talk.

    April 17, 2014

    • Alex S

Yeah, how about we meet at the foyer about 5-10 min after the talk ends?

Hi, if I make a reservation here do I have to register on SC Johnson website as well?

    April 15, 2014

    • Alex S

Hi Sherry, was able to switch schedule. Should make it by 6:30pm. See you and everyone else there.

Sarah, Sorry for the late reply. Yes, meetup site is not an official SC Johnson registration. If you can't register on your own, then just say your under "Alex Sassani" group.... My wife can't make it so there is an extra spot.
