Learn the basic tools of Lightroom for getting and staying organized -- corralling the Import dialog, reorganizing photos and folders from within Lightroom, finding missing photos, keywording, collections, searching for photos and more.

great refresher. i always learn from laura and picked up important points i definitely can use, such as incorporating maps with the images and clearing up external harddrive misunderstandings. i recommend though when we invite her next time, and i hope we do and soon, that no questions be allowed during the presentation. if people are having an issue with LR they can write down their ?s early and supplement the early ?s with ones that arise during the presentation. laura can then complete her planned topic and have a full discussion the ?s afterward. she was very gracious about the continual interruptions and answering as she went even though it sometimes disrupted the flow of her prepared presentation. she has helped me immensely by answering my issues on her web site, and if i am really stuck, i can hire her for a private session.

Excellent suggestions Jeff! I also don't think it's appropriate to ask for general photoshop questions that delay the beginning of the presentation. Other than general announcements, the presentation should be started as soon as possible. As it is, there is barely 90 minutes to cover a lot of information. Off topic questions should not be introduced.

I agree with your point about some of the questions. What if people can post their questions a social media forum (Adobe connect, Twitter, Meetup.com) so that others who have the answers may address them?

Was lower level than I expected...and the pace was slow. Maybe less questions and just a quick run through would have been better. I did pick up one or two tips (key strokes etc.) and some food for thought that made it worthwhile. Thankyou

Thanks for the feedback, John! Maybe I'll do a more advanced organizational and workflow tips one at some point.

I just realized that Laura didn't go over Collections!

Enjoyed the presentation. even though it was 'basic', this is what I needed to try again. The stress of getting it set up right the first time has been my biggest hurdle.

Love the presentation last night. I just wish we had that one about a year ago as I was setting up my Lightroom for the first time. Keep up the great programming and thanks for everyone's efforts.

I have been using lightroom for about 9 month & have always been a little confused about the importing and organizing. I learned a lot last night . Hopefully I can remember it all and put it to use. Thanks Laurie!

AWESOME! It started to make sense. I had a beta version that I had just given up on because I could not figure out where my photos had gone to--yes, I did not know about the destination designators on the right. THANKYOU so much, Laura Shoe!

I have seen Laura present many times and she never disappoints. While this class was fairly basic, there's not much you can cover in 90 minutes and I think she did a great job! I still learned some very helpful tips. And Laura was so generous to stay late and continue answering questions. Thanks Laura!

Great! Now it might be nice to do a similar one for Bridge....

I love LR and the chance to drill down on the boring part worked perfectly for me. My goal is to have all my photographs backed up and perfectly organized by fall.

I am happy to hear it, Ann-Marie! Sometimes the boring part is the most important to spend time on.

Laura is a great presenter. She's very knowledgeable and always so great at answering questions while staying on track for her session. I'd like to see her more often.

She did a wonderful job of helping take some of the mystery out of the way the hard drive works with the internal Lightroom organization hierarchy. Thansk!!!

Hi Laura. Thank you for putting on a really great presentation last night at Adobe. I've been an extensive user of Lightroom since the first beta, and I walked away with three pages of notes for new ways of managing my image workflow. The event was very well worth the time for attending, and I'm now going to check out some of your other training and even in-person consulting options. Thanks! Andy

Thank you for the note, Andrew -- I am happy to hear that you enjoyed it and got good info out of it, despite your experience!

Anyone want to carpool from the eastside?

    May 16, 2013

Alan, that is too far south. I plan to meet John at the Tully's. Hopefully that will work for you and Carol.

Well, thanks, I ended up taking the busy down. Great ride down--a bit scary walking parts of it later.

I deeply apologize for missing the meeting; even with a GPS I couldn't find the meeting place. I felt very badly that there was a waiting list and I denied someone on that list the opportunity to attend.

Sorry I missed it; was looking foward but got caught in traffic by the time I got there it was late. Also there were some idiots that were taking up 2 parking spaces and I can only assume they do not know how to park a car, so the lot was full. 799VTS and 327 ??? Please if you don't know how to park find some one to ride with that does.

I didn't see a response to the question of Do we bring our laptops? Also, should we have Lightroom on our laptops?

    May 21, 2013

    • Howard H

You might want to be able to follow some of Laura's examples or take notes on your laptop; but it's not necessary beyond that. FWIW: I don't think that she is planning on having any of her sample files available on-line.

Hi there, I'm so sorry, I feel really stupid here... the location part says "see the Location Note at the bottom of the invitation", but I'm not sure what 'location note' means or where I'm supposed to be looking... could someone confirm for me where I should go, just so I don't miss it? Thanks so much! :)

    May 16, 2013

    • Mari W.

Sorry about that, but thank you! This is the first event I've gotten to attend, so I didn't realize that's what it always says. Thanks so much for confirming, I'm excited to join y'all! :)

      May 16, 2013

I've corrected the message. Just click on the "map" link. That should now take you to a Google Map of the meeting location.

Can't find childcare for this one so I'll open up my spot. Sorry to miss it.

We don't currently have any plan to do a live-cast of Laura's presentation.\
