ATTENDANCE AND LATENESS POLICY: If a meetup requires travel to a dive site and we are all leaving from one location, we will wait 15 minutes for late attendees that have already signed up for an event. If you know you are going to be late please let the organizer know ASAP.
WE CERTAINLY DON'T LIKE TO CHANGE OR CANCEL OUR GREAT TRIPS! BUT ... if the organizer of an event decides if a trip needs to be changed, delayed, postponed or outright canceled -- we'll try to let others know as soon as possible -- but events can be canceled anytime, right up to the scheduled day and time. Weather is by far the most common reason for event changes, delays and cancellations. It is the Organizer's right to change, delay, cancel, or if possible, arrange for a new Organizer. We will try to never cancel an event outright, but just postpone it to another time. After signing up to an event, check back to our web site often for updates to the event.
The Ugly Stuff:
First - Use your real name not an alpha-numeric tag or label. All we require is your first name unless there is another person with that first name in the group. Then add the first letter of your last name, such as Tim G. or Tim O. While they are a snappy idea, using aliases (anything but your real name) is not such a good idea because it makes it REALLY difficult to find you at an event.
Second - As with all Meetup Groups there is a place in your profile for you to post a picture of yourself. A picture clear enough so that it will allow others to recognize you is requested. This is requested as a courtesy to, and for the safety of, all of our members. Since anyone can view our site it would be nice to be able to identify who shows up at our meetups
Third - Do not include any personal information (i.e. phone number or e-mail addresses) in your profile or in your RSVP comments. Our pages are not private so your profile information may be visible to everyone, including programs designed to capture e-mail addresses for spammers. You can always receive e-mail via the Meetup message system if you choose to activate it.
Fourth - We ask that members stay active in the group by at least coming out once every 180 days and responding with a yes/no RSVP to all posted events. If you cannot make it to a meetup change your RSVP. Three (3) No shows or last minute cancels make you eligible for removal. It's a bummer but there are a lot of flakes on meetup and we want to focus on those that frequent the group and show up.
Does this cost money?
Meetup charges a fee ($144.00 per year) to use this software, and we really couldn't manage this group without Meetup! Since we no longer have a dues requirement twice a year we will ask our members to make donations to help support our website.
