Please join us on May 14th for "Data Stories," an evening of analytics and actionable insight hosted by Google and DoubleClick. Here is our tentative schedule:

6:30 - 7:00 Arrivals and mingling*
7:00 - 7:30 Opening remarks and overview of Google and DoubleClick recent developments/Q&A
7:30 - 8:30 Main Attraction: "Data Stories." Dani of Daniweb.com is looking to the SEMPO NY audience to help tell a data story around her website. While the website scores high for SEO and receives a few million unique visitors a month, conversion rates are low. Dani will walk us through her site, open up her Google Analytics accounts, and then look to the audience to both tell the data story and solve her current conversion challenge.
8:30 - Closing remarks, networking

* Beer, wine and light appetizers will be provided, courtesy of our hosts, Google and DoubleClick

As always, you must RSVP to attend.

Thanks to Dani for opening up her analytics!

Who attended?

  • 230 attendees
    •  Dani is awesome for letting us have a peek at her data. We can all learn from each other and this was great to be able to see what troubles other websites are encountering. More please!
    •  The meetup was very informative regarding Google Analytics Improvements. Plus, Dani's presentation was helpful to understand the difference between traffic and conversion. Sometimes a lot of traffic don't mean a lot of money as in her case. I think her approach of getting more subscriber will help her to get more targeted traffic and eventually more income.
    •  Line that took to long - I left after losing patience.
    •  The discussion was engaging and insightful. The people were great and the atmosphere was extremely conducive ... In three words, a great meetup.
    •  Cons:Too many power point stills. WIll be good to have some more live interaction. i.e. log into analytics and show some things (not screen grabs). I was discourage to meet to many Newbies. Will like to mingle with professionals, but i guess that in part one of the main porpuse of SEMPO, educate for newbies. Good: I liked the speaker guy--a pro. Also, I liked all the new info about Google upgrades to analytics. Although, I could had gotten the same info online--eventually. I it was guess is good for networking and meeting new people. which i didn't do :-)
    •  There are two primary reasons these events are great: networking and education. Last night our networking time unfortunately got cut short because the check-in process with security was not well organized, and that is the reason I rated it a 3 this time around. In future events I think it is important to ensure the logistics around networking is a little tighter so we can maximize networking time.
    •  Very cool of DaniWeb to show her data and what good solid content can archive in a short period of time in terms of search marketing. Had the most intense learning experience about the 5 dimensional Google analytics charting. Now everyone who attended the meeting is a master of this arsenal.
    •  This event rocked- great presentations from Googler Ari and from Dani of Daniweb. Q&A section could have been better structured but was pretty cool considering the number of people competing for the mikes and limited time to talk. The only glaring problem was with the double-whammy long lines, first to get into the building at the security desk (one person per entrance is not enough to efficiently distribute passed and allow access), and then to sign Google's NDA. It tool me over a half hour to get past both lines. Once I got in I was a very happy guy.
    •  As always a great mix of disciplines, friendly people and great content.
    •  Networking and Meet and Greet should be combined as to maximize introduction timeframes.
    •  Really liked this event. Thanks to Google and to Dani for opening up!
    •  I would love that next sessions would keep the same content structure, very educational. I really liked Google Analytics presentation, and would suggest that in a future opportunity they showed a case where they teach how to use each and every feature of it with a real client.
    •  Good networking and interesting story from Daniweb.
    •  The content was there.
    •  Enjoyed the presentations and getting to speak with many of you. Look forward to the next event!
    •  The topic matter was very interesting - the speakers and audience members were engaged and the conversation was lively and informative.
    •  The meeting at Google was very interesting. Besides the good food and a great crowd there was a lot of interaction and opportunities to meet some great professionals. The first part of the meeting was great. We went over the new features that Google Analytics 2.0 offers. It was nice to get new ideas on how to take advantage of this powerful tool. The second part of the meeting offered a great chance to see some of the challenges that clients faces when it comes to conversion. It was very nice of Dina to allow us to see her analytics data. Thank you again SEMPO for this great oportunity. I look forward to participating and learning more at their events.
    •  I really enjoyed the SEMPO meetup. I found that daniweb.com taking the time to explain how Google Analytics helps the company was great. I also appreciated Google discussing their tools and taking questions. Oh yes, the beer and chips were a nice touch!
    •  Interesting to see Dani's data, but I think it might have made more sense for some additional background info and data to be sent to people in advance.
