Jim Pruitt, editor of The Ypsilanti Courier and The Manchester Enterprise, will teach community groups, business owners and the public how to write a news release that will stand a better chance of getting published. He will go over style and formatting do's and don'ts. It will be a hands-on workshop and you will be asked to take some information and turn into a news release as practice.
The Southeast Michigan Media Lab is a community of local business owners, entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, and those interested in networking, learning, sharing ideas, and basically help one another grow professionally, and learn about all the tools and resources that modern media encompasses. The group is taking a slightly different direction, even though the objectives are similar to the original group. We welcome those who want to learn, those who have a passion to teach, as well as those who simply want to get out and interact with real and interesting people that you would not likely otherwise cross paths with. The idea is to have classes, workshops, guest speakers, as well as social type networking events in order to build a cool community of local professionals. Give it a try, and you'll be pleasantly surprised.
MeetUp topics will include website building, lead generation, Blogging, social media, video, podcasting, writing, publishing, and other topics of mutual interest to those who choose to engage with the group and come to our events.
We also welcome ideas for events, topics, and speakers. The agenda will be driven more by those who participate rather than a specific agenda of the organizer.
