SF A/X: The RIDE stands for San Francisco Active Xplorers of The RIDE. The RIDE is SNOWBOARDING in the Winter and Mountain Biking in the Spring and Summer with some seasonal overlap. SF A/X RIDE events will take place in the Bay Area and Lake Tahoe as well as other areas. SF A/X is linked with two other Meet Up sites: (1) Sactown A/X and (2) Davis A/X.
In the Winter, THIS group has the advantage of NETWORKING you with over 400 other very Active SNOWBOARDERS whose home mountains are in TAHOE... most of which are in and around the Sacramento Metro Area and surrounding foothills. What this means for YOU, is increased camaraderie on the mountain, tips on improved riding at every level, GROUP RATES on LIFT TICKETS, Hotels, Resorts, Rideshares, etc.
What we hold in common is our interest in bringing our workouts outdoors, developing camaraderie with like-minded individuals. We bring a positive attitude, open mind and curiosities at the social, physical, intellectual, environmental, geographical, mental. To start, it is Winter and MANY of my friends (minimum of 70) hold season passes to a variety of Tahoe resorts. We ride ALL of them, EVERY season on snowboards and mountain bikes. MOST of us have the 'TRIPLE' Whammy this year as well as the Kirkwood season pass. The TRIPLE Whammy occurs because Vail acquired Northstar, which means that you get SIERRA at Tahoe, Northstar AND Heavenly on ONE pass this year.
We will organize social networking events. Group events which consist of rideshares, carpools to Tahoe which will meet in Sacramento on the way to Tahoe. Once we gain enough critical mass we will negotiate hotel discounts, etc. But BOTTOM LINE is we ALL share a love of getting outdoors and RIDING the MOUNTAIN for 5-8 hours each day. And I personally ALWAYS RIDE EVERY resort in Tahoe at least once each season, and I do so with 20-30-50 people every time.
This group is open to everyone. Skiers, Boarders, MTBers and most importantly, to NEW IDEAS and ENERGY, always positive energy. I expect this group to grow quickly, and we will all have FUN increasing our social networks, our skills on the mountain, sharing riding tips, helping new riders, at times, having tailgates in the parking lots for lunch or after we have put in a full day of riding.
