Lecture: Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary, plastics and the Albatross

This sounds really interesting. Just miles off the coast of Sonoma and Marin lies one of the finest feeding destinations in the world for a variety of marine animals. Whales, turtles, seabirds and fish complete annual migrations covering thousands of miles to dine on our locally grown ocean buffet.

Come learn about this fascinating place that attracts wildlife from around the Pacific Ocean.

A portion of the talk will look at the impacts of plastics on one of our most majestic visitors, the Black footed Albatross.

Speaker: Dan Howard, Sanctuary Superintendent

Followed by a special hands on surprise presentation by Jennifer Stock, (the impact of plastics on the amazing albatrosses, including a live dissection of an albatross bolus), Sanctuary Education and Outreach Coordinator.

This talk is free and sponsored by the Cordell Marine Sanctuary Foundation, a nonprofit with the mission of supporting the educational, research and outreach goals of the Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary.

Visit www.cordellfoundation.org for more information about the Sanctuary and the Foundation.

We'll meet up earlier for a snack or beverage if anyone would like. Or a drink afterwards.
