"The Bride of Frankenstein" (1935) & "Frankenstein" (1931): Karloff with bolts

If you would like to dine before the movie, we'll meet at Cafe Epi (click for info) starting at 5:45 PM.  Please note "dinner" in your RSVP so we can get a head count.  Non-diners, we will meet you in the balcony around 7:15 PM.

The Stanford Theatre does not accept credit cards, so come prepared with $7 cash for your ticket.

And now, on with the show!

The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) Starts: 7:30 PM, Ends: 8:45 PM

Starring: Boris Karloff, Elsa Lanchester, Colin Clive, Valerie Hobson, Dwight Frye
Director: James Whale
Plot: When his monster demands a mate, the good doctor obliges, but the "lady" is a little fickle... One of the rare cases where the sequel was even better than the original. Watch for Lanchester's dual part, as Mary Shelley, in the opening prolog.

Then, stick around for Karloff's signature role...

Frankenstein (1931) Starts: 8:55 PM, Ends: 10:05 PM

Starring: Boris Karloff, Colin Clive, Dwight Frye
Director: James Whale
Plot: The good doctor is determined to conquer death, by recreating life! Now, he's got all the parts assembled, but where is that Igor, with the brain..?? Karloff's pantomime makes the monster both grotesque and strangely innocent and childlike.
