Midnight (1939) Starts: 5:45 PM, Ends: ~7:20 PM

Starring: Claudette Colbert, Don Ameche, John Barrymore
Director: Mitchell Leisen
Plot: A gold-digging chorus girl (Colbert) washes up in the rain, in Paris, with just the dress she's wearing, but determined to land a sugar daddy -- but quick! As luck would have it, before she can land a dupe, she runs into a charming cab driver (Ameche). The two grudgingly come to realize she's not as mercenary as she seems, and he's not as immune to her charms as he might like! Along the way, a sly "fairy godfather," of sorts (Barrymore), nudges their romance along -- for his own amusement and benefit. Barrymore is hilarious as the charming roué. This was Billy Wilder's first Hollywood, feature script.
