July Diplomacy

The June game was a lot of fun and we decided to try getting (back to?) a monthly cadence. August is covered with Double Con, so I offered to host in July and Greg proposed another beer garden game in September.

Can we get seven (or more) players back-to-back-to-back?

We had two first-time Dip players in the June game and it was great. So if you have been lurking, come out of the shadows and jump in!

Thank you everyone! Had some late/unexpected attrition so the board was only 6, but we still had a fun game & good post-game discussion over beers (and ice hockey rinks). Hope to see everyone (including those who couldn't make it this time) at another game soon!

Calling the game at 4pm. Heading to Stanley's sports bar on So. 10th. See you there for post game kibitzing

I'll see what I can do to head down.

Heading over for a drink or 2.

Cosmo, Alex D, are you guys coming? We're short a player. Chris, want to opt back in?

    July 27

  • Glenn E.

OK, without Edi and Chris we're at 9 people. That is one full board, I will host, and Aaron you are probably first alternate (and we can side game if we want to). See everyone tomorrow @ 11am! Any questions or issues, my cell is[masked]-five three six two.

Hey guys sorry for the late RSVP. If there are too many for 1 game but too few for 2 games, I can duck out.

  • Edi B.

I am not going to make it as I have Granddad duty≥

No worries, while I want to play diplomacy this weekend, my friends aren't as game, so probably just easier to slim down to one board for the weekend and count Mike and me out.

I have been trying to recruit a few more people so we could run 2 full boards without success. Unless someone else can pull in a few more friends it looks like we will have only one full board. Edi, can you confirm if you are in or out? Chris, will it be both you & your friend Matt? Anyone else's plans changing? If we end up with 8-12 people I will step out & just host (and we have other games we can play on the side that might run better than a second board that would only have a few players).

I am a POSSIBLE only and do not count on it. I have my Grandson #2 *(10 year old) and there may be other family stuff. By the way can I count on all of you to come and play in the Con-Con Diplomacy event at Concord August 23-24?? [masked]

I will be at ConCon. Also, I will do my best to remember to bring your WDC Best Turkey award which I accepted on your behalf.

Great, always have fun with you on the board.

Is it okay if my friend comes instead of me?

Chris: anyone and everyone is welcome, please do forward to your friend Michael! I'd prefer you update your RSVP (and ask Michael to also) with your final decisions just so we know who to expect as we are starting up. About the cats: we regularly have cat-allergic gamers and other visitors here and don't generally have a problem: wood floors, wood table, wood chairs, no cloth surfaces anywhere in the primary gaming room = limited dander. But the cats have been in the room so if you have the unfortunate walk-into-a-building-with-a-cat-and-stop-breathing level of allergy then I understand hesitation to commit to a lengthy dip game... your call, and I hope to game with you soon here or at another upcoming event.

I can head by, but I'm okay with not playing if we have more than seven but fewer than fourteen. :)

    July 18

    • Chris N.

I'll be there but cats may make it tough to play well.

      July 19

    • Alex A.

Yeah, I'll definitely come down. I'm just saying that I'm happy to sit out if necessary.

      July 20

  • Glenn E.

Oh, one warning for attendees: there are 2 cats in the house. We can put them in another room & we don't have carpet, but if you are highly allergic you may want to pre-dose with histamines (or whatever works for you)

Hey all! I've been busy and traveling and haven't been watching the meetup group. I'm glad to see that there are still games happening! I unfortunately cannot make this one, but if everyone is still hanging out in the evening (6-7ish) I could always make an appearance and say hello at the end. Let me know. :)

No idea how late we'll go, Siobhan. I proposed the 11am start (which nobody has objected to yet) to give us time. It's Silicon Valley Beer Week (http://www.svbeerweek...) so if we exhaust Greg's sixer and my fridge, we have plenty of options for an after party :)

    • Siobhan N

I'll check meet up on day of. :)

7 players is great! If you have signed up but your plans change, please let us know. And if you are interested but havn't signed up please go ahead and RSVP. We may need a pinch hitter, or if we end up with an extra player I can sit out and GM. Or if there is more interest we can beat the bushes and try to get to 2 full boards (14)... we made it happen in march, and Greg has issued a challenge :). I have enough room for 2 games if we get the players.

    July 18

  • Glenn E.

Game on: I will supply free beer, wine, and lunch for the June house game!

But no dessert for for anyone who stabs me :)

    July 17

    • Greg H.

Uh oh, I have awakened a sleeping giant... but I'll still bring a sixer!

      July 17

    • Greg H.

Hey, see what happened! Offer food and drink and just like that we have 7. Well done, sir!

      July 17

  • Glenn E.

It's a competition now, Greg? Whose is bigger? :)

    July 17

  • Greg H.

Hey Glen, my Beer House game in September has as many players as your game next weekend. What is the matter? Isn't there going to be a beer or two at your place? I'll bring a sixer if need be! ;^)

    July 17

  • Greg H.

Fantastic! I'm in and I'm recruiting.
