Hey all you butterfly shooters. I took a lighting class from this guy - he is a little off but I think you will get a kick from his video:

Tons of fun. The butterflies were out of reach for my setup, but I got some fun shots of the barnyard animals and surroundings.

Had a great time with other fun photographers of all different experience levels. Wish I had a longer lens to catch the butterflies up in the trees.

According to the weather folks, it's not suppose to rain however it maybe in the 60's. If you have one, bring a tripod especially if you're planning on using a long lens. The butterflies maybe high in the trees. Ardenwood offers other photographic opportunities. I think it cost $2 to get in the park. I can't wait to meet all of you.

    Hi Everyone,

This was some how canceled during the transition between Tom and Sam. I'm still planning on going on the 11th, as scheduled. I went yesterday and the butterflies were wonderful. I can be reached at [masked]. Thanks Sandy

I'm watching the weather as the weather forecast is sun most of the day with rain. I know that they can cancel the outing if it rains. I think the 27th is one of those days to play by ear. If it doesn't rain, I will be there around 1:15 for the presentation then a walk out to see the butterflies. For those who might try to come, lets meet in the room where their having the presentation. Have a great Thanksgiving.

    Hi Jeannie,

I haven't heard from anyone as yet. Since its the Saturday after Thanksgiving many may have out of town events. Since I'm not traveling it sounded like something fun to do for the afternoon. We can have a mini-meetup for those who want to drop by.

Sandy, I might be interested in going rather on 11/27. Is there anyone else joining on that day?

I went to Ardenwood yesterday and discussed our group attending on the 11th. The Naturalist took me out to see the monarchs winter home. I am planning on going on November 27th, as that is the first official day. For those interested in learning more, there is a presentation from 1:30-3.

    Wow what a turn out.

I just found out that the butterflies will be 40-50 feet off the ground in the trees. So using a telephoto and a tripod will come in handy.

Also found out that even though the gates open at 10:00 the naturalist program won't start until 11:00 which leaves us lots of time to explore.

It sounds like we may have many interested in doing this event. Do you think that a date can be locked in so I can schedule this event in my calendar.

Sounds interesting. Hopefully I can get a longer lens to get the high-up shots.

Just be aware that the butterfly's are typically way way up in the trees. There are a few that come down to the ground. It can be very difficult to get a good picture...
