Nominated one of Forbes' "Edge Thinkers" in 2011, Bradley Voytek will present how using skills and tools he learned from his "startup sabbatical" with Uber, Bradley will show how the Silicon Valley "data-driven way" has influenced his neuroscience research, and how his time with Uber has influenced his neuroscientific research.
Meet Bradley Voytek:
Brad is the Data Evangelist for the on demand car service, Uber, Inc., and is an NIH-funded neuroscientist studying the role of the prefrontal cortex in cognition and network communication. In his research he uses data, lesion experiments, human intracranial recordings, brain-stimulation, brain-computer interfacing, and whatever other tools he can get his hands on. He co-created the meta-analytic neuroscience research aggregation tool and hypothesis generation site http://brainSCANr.com with his wife Jessica Bolger Voytek. Brad is an avid science teacher and outreach advocate, is the world's zombie brain expert (seriously), and was named one of Forbes' "Edge Thinkers" in 2011. He’s spoken at events ranging from elementary schools to venues such as TEDx, Strata, @GoogleTalks, Ignite, TED-Ed, and SciFoo. His research has been featured in The Washington Post, Wired, and The New York Times and his public science writing has appeared in The Guardian, Newsweek, Forbes, The New Yorker, and The Atlantic.
