Come join us to see popular jazz group Hiroshima! The Los Angeles-based ensemble of Dan Kuramoto (keyboards/ woodwinds/ composer/ producer), virtuoso June Kuramoto (koto/ composer), Kimo Cornwell (piano/keyboards/composer), Danny Yamamoto (drums/percussion), Dean Cortez (bass) and Shoji Kameda (taiko drum/percussion) have blended jazz, pop, and rock with traditional Japanese folk music and instruments for more than 30 years. Ever evolving, the 2010 Grammy-nominated group, highlighted by the sound of June Kuramoto’s shimmering koto (noted by Stanley Clarke to be the world’s best) creates music and sounds totally unique--with depth, heart and soul. They’ve sold almost 4 million records.
WHEN: Sunday Sept 15 … 5:00pm, so that we can meet, talk and have a drink prior to the 6pm show.
WHERE: Yoshi’s Jazz Club, 510 Embarcadero West, Oakland, CA. Meet in the bar inside Yoshi’s at 5:00pm.
RSVP: Please RSVP “Yes” on our Meetup event page.
TICKETS: Please purchase your own General Admission tickets for the 6pm Sunday Sept 15 show on Yoshi's website:
General Admission tickets for the 6pm show are $24 per person (plus Yoshi’s $3.50 ticketing fee). Make sure to pre-purchase your concert tickets online (see the link above) and pick up the tickets at the box office upon arrival. These tickets are for open (unreserved) seating so we need to get into the theater early to grab unassigned seats in the back of the club. Yoshi’s is small enough so that even the seats in the back are great seats.
We can order appetizers and small plates as well as drinks during the show, so you won’t have to eat dinner beforehand.
Hope to see you there!
