This talk by Square NYC engineering lead Wiktor Macura will show you methods for building secure distributed systems, demonstrating technology and techniques Square uses to iterate quickly while ensuring the protection of our customer's security and privacy.
About the talk
Square's mobile app is essentially a node in a distributed system spanning untrustable networks of wildly variable latency and reliability. Motivated by the sensitivity of payment information and the importance of reliable processing for merchants, we trace the life of a swipe within Square's systems. Along the way we'll see the technologies and processes Square has developed that allow us to quickly iterate on building amazing customer experiences while keeping our customer's security and privacy top of mind.
About the speaker
Wiktor writes code, lives in New York, and is an engineering lead working on money moving systems at Square NYC. Previously he helped scale Tumblr by building distributed services, and developed some of the parsing technology and core data stores in Wolfram|Alpha.
