Drones with LaserBeams sponsored by Skycatch

Pizza and Beer sponsored by Skycatch
Skycatch is focused on helping companies scale the use of autonomous flying robots for remote surveillance and logistics by making them SAFE and reliable.

Michael Rattner Co-founder of AdvancedMEMS will be presenting on using mems mirrors and laser based ranging.

We will also be demonstrating lightware's new inexpensive SF02 module which features Time of Flight measurement capability at a 40 meter range with up to 12 readings per second. It is a perfect candidate for terrain detection and automated landing of small drones.

Our reception desk is on the 9th floor, but the meeting room is on the 8th floor. I will have someone waiting in the lobby to send you directly to the 8th floor.

    Hi Bryan,
URS Corp is at suite 900, is that the 8th floor?

Will the drone carrying the laser will also be carrying a camera?
Any chance this meetup will be streamed?

    January 6, 2014

    • Bryan G.

This meetup will focus on the lidar technology and how it can be applied to drones. As of yet the integration hasn't happened yet because the lidar products at this price point and capability are just emerging. A camera is a common payload and would likely be used in conjunction.
The meetup won't be streamed, because it is really focused on meeting people in person.

Given the current size (110) of the attendee list, I am guessing that this is going to be more of a PowerPoint presentation to an audience, and less of a hands-on, small-group experience...yes?

    • Bryan G.

Actually usually the most interesting part of the events is people talking in small groups before and after the main talks. There is definitely always time to talk one on one with the speakers and the other people who attend the events.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
