MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDING DIRECTOR
Dear Bay Area Women,
For those who do not know, Siren's 2013 Topic is "Death" as it relates to collective wellness for women. We have a group of 12 women meeting every week exploring this topic through various lenses like culture of death, unusual deaths, facing death, living but dead, loss and grief of losing our dear ones, fear of our own death and more. We have also been interviewing other people and asking what death means to them. The intention is to expose our findings around how much death controls our well-being during the time we are alive and are there ways to think of death as a gift that we can use for living a fuller life.
We are going to have year long creative and exploratory activities that will shape our findings into theatrical production, book, film etc.
This month, at the Siren Community Salon, we invite all women to engage in collaborative creation around the topic of life and death. Let's gather in the welcoming and wonderful space donated by Women's Cancer Resource Center and through playful activities like story telling, conversations, writing, drawing and more we will explore to expose the role death plays in living a life of well-being.
