Summer Solstice Med Mob at Dolores Park!

Join us for a Flash Mob Meditation @ Dolores Park on the Summer Solstice!

We will be joining over 300 cities around the world all meditating in masses in public places. We will be basking in the Sun's rays & beaming brightness as we overlook the city!

The meditation will last for one hour starting at 6:30pm and a 11 minute sound bath will begin at 7:30pm. You can come for all of it, part of it, meditate the whole time, or just chill out and bask in the peace of the moment.

The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. The Northern Hemisphere will be angled perfectly to receive the most amount of positive vibrations from the sun . The word Solstice in Latin is roughly translated as "Sun stands still" because it appears that the sun sits still in the sky, creating the longest day of the year.

For thousands of years many cultures have acknowledged this celestial event by coming together in celebration and deep awareness. This is a perfect time to sit in meditation and go within, connecting with the energy that will propel us through the next half of 2012. This is an opportunity to tap into the shift of the magnetic force of the Sun and Earth's relationship and dive deep into our expansive universe.

What intention do you wish to bring into the next half of 2012? What seeds have you planted in the forms of ideas, dreams, wishes, planning etc. that you would like to see bloom in your reality? Join us and set your intention as we come together in peace and meditation!

Sound Bath:

You can use Om, Ong, God, Allah, Ma, Yeah, or any other sound or mantra that resonates deeply within yourself. This part of the MedMob is super fun, impactful, and sounds amazing!

MedMob's Mission:

Our intention is to create an environment for people from all religions, all world views, and all experience levels to join together in meditation. Our vision is to continue inspiring world-wide meditations until the entire world is invited to join - literally!

Sweet & mellow. I have to really work @ meditating, so I think it would have been helpful to lead us in at the beginning with opening remarks to guide us on our journey.

Thanks so much for organizing, Mel and Tina! A little curtailed due to weather (what else to expect on the first day of summer in SF but to feel like it's going to snow?); still, a quality time. Thank you!

I'm sorry, it looks like they've done some reorganizing here at the park since I've been here. There is a big furry tree to the right of the playground, let's do it there!

Last time we did a MedMob at Dolores Park was on 11/11/11 - It poured rain all day long and right up to the event and then the clouds parted and the Moon shined on us, it was awesome. Bring a blanket and come sit with us! This is for the greater good of ourselves and everyone around us.

However depending on the cold and wind, I might shorten the meditation to 1/2 hour instead and an 11 minute sound bath after. Hope to see you soon!

Our intention as a group is to face the city but the intention that you hold while you meditate can be anything that you want it to be.

Dolores Park is a big place! Let's meet up on top of the hill above the playground. The exact location will be chosen when we get there. I will have a singing bowl with me and I'll get there early. You can look at my picture to spot me and please come introduce yourself if you come early. :)

Hi my name is Mel and I am one of the organizers of MedMob San Francisco, Tina and I are co-organizing this event. I look forward to seeing everyone there! I believe that the Summer Solstice date doesn't technically land on the same date every year. Sometimes it's on the 20th, the 21st, the 22nd around the world celebrations are from the 21st - 24th. Many events are being held tomorrow. I personally always celebrate on the 21st even if it technically falls on a different day.

Is there a spot/landmark in the park we should meet near? Thanks for organizing this -- looking forward to it!
