Throughout the week the SF Free School offers free classes to anyone and everyone who wants to learn, have fun and meet new people. Classes we’ve offered have been in dance, drumming, martial arts, philosophy, dating, meditation, improv, yoga, writing - and many other topics as well.

Though the mix of classes and events we hold varies over time, some weeks with many events and others with just a few, much of what we held in the past was out of a yoga and dance studio, and hence, in the past, we’ve often held body and movement related classes and events out of that studio. Now, with new places to hold events and classes, we’re also offering more scholastic topics as well.

The SF Free School is focused on sharing activities and teaching skills which are fun, healthy and useful, and potlucks, classes, workshops and public talks are some of the ways we like to do so. We go on field trips, so we can explore new areas and discover new things, and we like to hold outdoor classes and events in parks and public areas. Indoors we’re found in community centers and community meeting rooms, or we might be found in cafes, private homes and in public classrooms.

All classes and events at our locations are free of charge and open to all. We do not ask for cash for any of our classes and events and everyone is always welcome to attend our classes and events free of charge, and though our instructors and event hosts can accept donations which are freely offered for the classes and events they hold with us they will never even ask for cash or donations from anyone who attends the classes and events they make available through the SF Free School.

The only exception to this policy is that occasionally we do hold fundraising events for donations, but even at these events everyone is always welcome and no one will be turned away from these events because of lack of funds. In addition, fundraising events are always clearly identified as such on our events calendar, so if you see anything listed on our calendar and the listing does not say the event is a fundraiser you can rest assured that you will not be asked for cash to attend.

We only have one rule at the Free School: Be Excellent to Each Other – and that is the only payment we ever require.
