San Francisco Liberty Coalition is monthly event backed by a loose network of local pro-freedom groups (any group fighting for civil liberties, economic freedom, or both). It is designed to give supporters of civil and economic liberties a forum where we can connect with each other around the pro-freedom causes we care about, learn more about libertarian ideas, and make our voices heard in local politics.

NOTE: This Meetup is on hiatus while I look for a co-organizer or co-organizers!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WANTED: One or more libertarian co-organizers for this event to happen one weekday evening per month at a space in SF for around 3 hours (see details below*)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Events will be $3 at the door, or free with an invite from a Coalition member group. Events will include both participatory caucusing, and some form of presentation (e.g. speakers, pro-freedom videos, etc.)

Speakers invited to appear at the forum may include:

• persons knowledgeable about topics relevant to the struggle for freedom
• victims of government oppression
• local activists and community organizers
• candidates for public office
• government officials

Event Format/Schedule
---------------------------------
1) Welcoming; everyone invited to add their topic to those listed on a whiteboard
2) Representatives of pro-freedom activist groups give brief updates/info on what they're about, what they're doing, etc.
3) Last call for topics, straw poll on which topics people plan to caucus around, then break into separate caucus groups (any topic that has at least two people wanting to discuss it is a caucus; people alone in preferring their chosen topics are encouraged to join other caucuses, or they can watch or hang around until the next part of the event).
4) Caucuses meet in small groups to discuss their topics
5) Everyone comes together as a large group again, and caucus representatives give brief reports on what they talked about in their groups, what activism their caucus has planned for between now and next month
6) Featured speaker(s), film, or other presentation/happening
7) Hang out/network/socialize until closing time or you have to go

*Co-organizer role

Help host at the event
Help line up pro-freedom speakers and films
Help organize candidate debates (seasonal)

SF Liberty Coalition group responsibilities/benefits
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Any locally active group whose mission is broadly libertarian (supports both civil liberties and economic freedom positions), and single-issue groups that bring a pro-freedom perspective to their main area(s) of focus, are eligible to be part of the SF Liberty Coalition.

Groups in the coalition will have the opportunity to send a representative to give an update for the group at SF Liberty Coalition events, solicit and receive donations at our events, be included on event signage and fliers, recommend or provide speakers and films for the events, receive free event invites to distribute to their supporters, and be listed as a sponsor on the SF Liberty Coalition Meetup page with a link to the group's website.

In exchange, coalition groups will be expected to inform their supporters about SF Liberty Coalition events and help spread the word about the events among the general public.

If you belong to or know of a libertarian or pro-freedom organization that is active in the San Francisco area, and are interested in having your group become a participating organization, please contact the SF Liberty Coalition Meetup organizer or encourage the leaders of your group to get in touch.

Libertarians wishing to organize similar Liberty Coalitions in other cities are welcome to use this event name/format.
