Announcing a new Meetup for SF Liberty Coalition!
What: Hear From Mayor, DA, & Sheriff Candidates, Pro/Con Arguments On Ballot Measures!
When: Thursday, July 21, 2011 7:00 PM
Where: 50 Mason Social House
50 Mason Street (x Market St.)
San Francisco, CA 94108
Well it's finally here, the first official SF Liberty Coalition Meetup!
Thank you to those of you who've stuck around as members of this group while I tried to find a suitable location for our regular monthly events -- I believe that has now been accomplished.
Until further notice, SF Liberty Coalition events will take place on the 3rd Thursday of each month, from 7-9pm, at 50 Mason Social House, located at 50 Mason Street (between Market and Eddy), a block from the Powell Street cable car turnaround in downtown San Francisco.
The usual event format will be:
(1) One or two minute updates from representatives of sponsor organizations
(2) A presentation laying out the libertarian (pro-freedom) position on the evening's topic
(3) A speaker or panel discussion with people involved in that issue on the local level
For our inaugural event this month, however, we will be hosting candidates running for San Francisco mayor, district attorney, and sheriff in the upcoming November elections, as well as proponents and opponents of the measures that will be on the local ballot (pension reform, bonds, parks, male circumcision, building demolition & more)!
So bring your tough, pro-freedom questions, cameras, and note-taking materials and "be the media", as the new saying goes. No guarantees on who will be there, but all will be invited, including write-in candidates, and seeing who's brave or pro-freedom enough to show up is all part of the fun!
The bar will generally have live music scheduled for after our event, and people are welcome to stay and hang out and discuss, network, socialize and party until 2am or whenever you feel compelled to drag your butt out the door, whichever comes first!
SF Liberty Coalition events will be FREE and open to all -- we hope you will invest the money you didn't spend in some drinks or bar food, as a thank you to the 50 Mason Social House for generously allowing us the use of their space without charge.
Additional donations will be graciously accepted, all of which will be used to pay for fliers and other advertising to promote future SF Liberty Coalition events -- or you can always give something to support the sponsoring group of your choice.
I have high hopes for these events generating a critical mass of pro-freedom participants to have an influence on local politics by exposing more local activists and decision-makers to pro-freedom views, and making members of our community more knowledgeable about issues affecting freedom in San Francisco and how you can get involved to make a difference.
Check it out!
