Mark your calendars--this month's MeetUp is a week early on Wed. Oct. 21st for a special Online Community MeetUp. If you're interested in online community, emerging technologies, digital storytelling, or all of the above, you won't want to miss it!
RSVP here or if you are on Facebook, please also visit RSVP here too and share on your profiles.
TechSoup Global (your MeetUp host) is hosting a Digital Storytelling Online Event and Challenge. This event will be a screening of the digital story videos who were the challenge winners and a party! This free event experiments with combining different community platforms for participation: webinars, forums, Tweetchat and the virtual world of Second Life. The webinars kicked off the Community Challenge where social benefit organizations are encouraged to submit a digital story (either a 60-second YouTube video or Goldmail or 5-panel picture story on Flickr).
The Challenge is on, and organizations have through Mon. Oct. 19th, 9 AM Pacific, to submit to the Digital Storytelling Challenge. Expert hosts from the webinars are in the TechSoup forums to answer any digital storytelling questions.
Here's the best part: Join us for our Oct. MeetUp, Wednesday October 21st, 7PM, at TechSoup headquarters in San Francisco for a mixed reality Digital Storytelling Screening and Awards Party. Watch the challenge submissions from fellow social changemakers, broadcasting live in San Francisco, streamed on the web, discussed on TweetChat and projected into the virtual world of Second Life. Don't miss this unique opportunity to experience the interaction of community channels through this multi-channeled event.
Winning submissions will be selected and prizes awarded at the TechSoup Headquarters, 525 Brannan Street, Suite 300, San Francisco, and virtually in Second Life at TechSoup's Nonprofit Commons. Don't know how to participate via Second Life? Here's an easy how-to.
Stay tuned to the event page and the Twitter #tsdigs hashtag for more details.
You can also register to receive email announcements about the event.
Hope to see you there!
