I work on machine learning and statistical text processing. I am interested in Scala as a less painful way to implement algorithms, run experiments, etc.
We're building a cloud-based log data management service.
We might be able to host a meetup in Redwood City sometime, I'd guess our space would hold ~100, I might be interested in presenting sometime.
akka, slick, shapeless, scalacheck, scalaz, summingbird/algebird - plus any machine learning libraries.
Mike Slinn referred me to you as the organizer of the machine learning topic in March. I'm the author of the ScalaStorm DSL for Twitter's hot Storm real time framework (github.com/velvia/ScalaStorm). I could give a talk about how to use Scala on top of the Storm framework, which may be of interest to anybody looking for a real time analytics / processing / querying solution.
I could give a quick talk if that's of interest. Not sure if it fits in with machine learning.
