Scala is not in wide use in my enterprise. I am promoting Scala, functional programming, and reactive applications, as a way forward: A way to progress from Java without disconnecting from Java, and as a way to develop understandable programs that take advantage of multi-core computers and multi-computer clusters.
Yes, in some cases. I used Play! for an intranet web app, accessed from a desktop web browser. I also have a Scala application to manage the backups of my virtual machines off-hours...It updates me on my Nexus 5 device via email.
Not sure. There is a 288-seat auditorium near Oakland 12th St. station, but not sure it is available for this purpose. I do like to present (BA in Drama) but don't have a presentation...at present!
Composable futures, Actors, SBT, DevOps, Typesafe Console (and enterprise monitoring in general).
I like expressions that are short and sweet.
Wonderful! A great way to learn...There's nothing else like it.
