Are you building a startup -- and what is it about? If not, what is the role of Scala in your company?

Today, functional programmers are few and far between and I look forward to connecting with like-minded individuals. I am very keen to learn, am eager to share my own experiences and cannot wait to connect. While I don't live in the bay area myself, I travel there at least once a month and will align my travel to allow me to attend meetups whenever possible. Finally, since grad school at Indiana University where I studied programming languages and we did everything in Scheme, I've known that functional programming was the right way to program, but there has been little room for it in industry. But that is changing and I want to be a part of the wave that brings it to the masses.

Is your Scala talking to a web or mobile client, and if so, how?

I have just finished the coursera Functional Programming with Scala course but I've long been a functional programmer (in heart, even if I couldn't use it in my daily work).

Are you able to host meetups, and for how many, and/or do you like to present?
