Screenplay review #1

I threw this out there about a year ago to great response, so I am finally going to make it a reality.

These are the basics:  This is a Script Review event.  I will begin taking Full Screenplay submissions.  This can be any draft of your own work, so long as its a complete draft.  The screenplays will be scheduled in the order received, however priority will be given to people who have attended more than one regular meetup recently. Please e-mail me (Howard) to get in the queue.  If I don't receive any submissions I will volunteer one of my own scripts for this session so, you've been warned.

The chosen work will be posted in .pdf format in the "Files" section, at least two weeks before the date, for you to download and read on your own before the meeting.  The meeting itself will be for discussing the screenplay in question, though we may very well table read certain passages or scenes.  Time permitting, there may be opportunity to shoot the breeze about other screenplay and film related topics.

The January 30th meeting will be a very much an experiment, which will hopefully continue on a roughly monthly basis if people are into it.  Please offer me your feedback on your interest in this type of meeting and suggestions on how to make it work better.

Great feedback on my script. I look forward to another meetup and hopefully can bring some more work in. Thank you all.

This meeting was successful, two previewed scripts were discussed in some depth. I can see this approach to meetups working 6-8 times a year and possibly once a month. I plan to contribute a work-in-progress in the near future.

Ok, looks like I'll be a bit late to this one as it turns out, but please get started without me - I should arrive by 7:15-7:20. As for the script, I recommend downloading and reading Jesse's screenplay, "Wingman", and discussing it first. Jesse, feel free to bring pages to the meeting as well. I will bring some printed pages from "The Senator", and I welcome everyone else to bring pages as well. My apologies for the lateness, but something came up that I didn't realize until today might conflict.

    See everyone Tuesday,

    Howard

thanks to Howard for providing a script for this session. I'm keen on the idea of submitting a First Act (30-35 pages) for review at a future meeting. This would provide input as to the direction the script is taking and exploring possibilities for development of the plot and character arc.

Okay. Just downloaded my screenplay titled "Wingmen" that hopefully you all can read and discuss at the meeting. I've been broke lately, so haven't really been able to attend. It's a dark romantic comedy, and my first ever screenplay so any feedback is welcome.

planning to bring pages to read for 1-29.
Would like to do the full script review, but concerned about folks putting their full unpublished work on line. Seems tricky.

A copyright of some sort is advisable prior to posting a completed draft. As far as I know 1-29 is not a scene reading event but a review of a posted script which has yet to be selected. DH
