Who doesn't like a good love letter? This is a collection of 300 letters (just 10% of what was found from the 30-year relationship) between first lady Eleanor Roosevelt and her lover Lorena Hickok, the reporter assigned to cover her.
We're picking this title to start because there's a local, free, one-woman show to celebrate these letters running throughout July at the Eureka Theatre.
We'll meet at the house (address will be sent to those who RSVP 2 days before the Meetup—it's just a few blocks from the Muni station), talk for a while, then head over to see the show together (starts at 8 p.m.). Feel free to bring snacks/drinks to the house (Kasa is also right across the street).
Since this is coming up quickly, don't worry if you can't finish the entire book. Also feel free to join us just for the discussion. We're looking forward to meeting everyone and talking about what we'd like to get out of the book club!
We've restricted the size of this Meetup to what our house can accommodate, so please update your RSVP before the event so everyone who can come gets a chance.
Make sure to get tickets (free but required) in advance here: www.crackpotcrones.com
As Tricia mentions above, for the first meet-up, feel free to join us even if you have not read the book, or just for the discussion portion if you don't want to join us as the show later.
We have been getting a lot of questions about what 'sex-positive' means :)
Perhaps, we can spend some time during the discussion talking about sex-positive means to each of us ...
See you on the 24th!
