Sketch sweeping views across the bay or get close to shorebirds wading through tidal marshes in this little-known park. Afterwards those who've had enough nature can head back to the Dogpatch/Bayview Sunday Streets event, with car-free streets extending from AT&T ballpark all the way down to the Bayview Opera House. There will be lots of food, live music and families out enjoying the day. For more information about Sunday Streets, go to http://www.sundaystreetssf.com/event-information/
From the EcoCenter, keep walking down the path until you get to the very end of the spit. Call/text Laurie if you're lost (415)[masked]
Bicycles would be ideal because there will be so many streets without car traffic (there will, however, be a lot of bicycle traffic).
If taking MUNI, get off the T-Third line just south of the Islais Creek bridge and walk down Cargo Street to Heron's Head (probably about a 15 minute walk all the way to the point). For a shorter walk, get off the 19 or 44 bus at Evans and Jennings, walk northeast on Jennings to the EcoCenter and then out to the point.
Driving, there is plenty of parking near the EcoCenter at Heron's Head. You may need to drive a little out of the way to get around the street closures. For a pdf map showing which streets will be blocked off and where you can get across, go to http://www.sundaystreetssf.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Bayview-Dogpatch_Map.pdf
