New Year's Eve Dance on the USS Hornet

NYE dance party on an old aircraft carrier parked permanently in Alameda.  It does not leave the dock.  There are 3 dance floors on the enclosed, heated, hangar deck.  Live 16 piece band that plays classic Big Band.  Dance lesson at 7:45 by a former Fred Astaire instructor.  The flight deck will be open to view the SF fireworks so bring a sweater or jacket for that.  Tickets are 45 dollars for no reserved seat and usually sell out before the event.  You can buy online or call to order.  No processing fee to have mailed to you or held at will call.  Free parking across the street.  Keep your ticket stub for free museum entry on another day through end of Jan.

Eileen, thank you for organizing this - I had a blast! What a way to ring in the new year 1940's music, three dance floors, simulated plane rides, who could ask for more. Bravo!

Hi Everyone- latest count is 20 people. It will probably be tough to reserve 20 seats but I'll do what I can. (and a few people have reserved seats). I am arriving at 6:30 to be in line early. I'll have signs on red paper indicating seats are for meetup. Also a couple of yellow balloons (not helium). I'm sure there won't be 16 people sitting at once- it'll just be nice to have a rendezvous spot for people to come and go from. So even if I only get a handful of seats-it can serve as a meeting area. If you don't see seats- meet from 9-9:30 at the 3rd dance floor by the bar. And last option- my cell-[masked]-5969. See you tomorrow! It will be fun!

Hi, I purchased a reserved seat (not cabaret) as I'll be coming after work and will want to be able to sit a bit... hope that it will be relatively easy to stay connected to all of our group members. Not sure how that will work w/folks in different types of seating?

Hi everybody- I just talked to an organizer of the dance (Madeline) so I have a better idea of the setup and how to meet. The doors open at 7:15. Dance lesson at 7:45. Seats are first come/first serve for general admission so I will get in line at 6:45 to get in early and try to get seats. If anyone else comes early- text me so we can get them together. I will bring some papers and tape that say meetup to save seats if I do get them. My cell-[masked]-5969. I will be wearing a long red dress, red necklace and earrings and I'll wear a small name badge type tag that says "MEETUP/ Eileen" during the dance lesson. The first dance lesson is at the main stage where the band will be. A 2nd meeting spot will be between 9 and 9:30 at the 3rd dance floor near the bar area. There will be ongoing dance lessons at that dance floor throughout the night. Again I'll wear the name badge during that time. If I'm able to get seats and describe the location I'll try to post it here that night.

Marti- yes- 5 min. from the ship- the flyer has suggestions: Hawthorn Suites is located only 5 minutes from the ship. To get a special rate that includes breakfast, mention that you will be attending the “USS Hornet New Year’s Gala” when making your reservation.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
