Iron Horse Trail Weekend Ride

This ride will occur on the last Sunday of every month leaving from the Dublin Blvd/Civic Plz parking lot.

For this ride we will be riding up the Iron Horse trail and back.  We can discuss how long / far we'd like to go before we leave but figure this ride will likely be at least a couple of hours.  The pace will be whatever the group would like.

Helmets are encouraged (though this is the last I'll mention it).

I'm hoping for this to be a bit of a meet and greet ride for those that haven't been able to attend a weekday ride.  It won't always occur on the Iron Horse Trail but I figured that's an easy starting point for our first weekend ride.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Note, if you are coming to the ride via BART please let me know and keep your RSVP up to date so that I can make sure we don't leave without you ;)

Dan, I think you planned ahead just fine! Lunardi's, at about 10 miles into the ride, makes for a near-perfect mid-ride meeting spot IMHO. There were some of us (Greg, Carol, Janusz and I) that wanted to meet everyone at Lunardi's for lunch but misjudged the timing and missed the group (shame on us). I guess that as time goes on we'll get a better sense of timing... A group lunch stop has always been one of my favorite parts of any group ride and I'm sorry I wasn't there...

You folks may want to check out the "Discussions" and make suggestions.

Good meetup, started at the Dublin Civic Center Plaza and headed out to Leonardi's on the Iron Horse Trail as the turn around. It was cool to see the other 2 and 3 wheeled recumbents. This is a good start location with rides available in any direction.

Looks like the turn out is going to to be pretty good for a first-time event... I understand that a small number of recumbent riders that haven't joined this Meetup group (yet) may be joining in on the ride. Look forward to seeing/meeting all of you...

    Dan,

I let the Recumbents of the East Bay group (http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/Recumbents_of_the_East_Bay/) know about this ride. It was mentioned that BART may be an option for some in order to join the ride but the earliest BART train doesn't arrive at Dublin-Pleasanton station until ~8:51. I'm planning to meet anyone who lets me know in advance at the station and show them the safest (all bike path) way to the start. We may not be there until a few minutes after 9am. Alternatively, we could meet y'all at the bridge where the Iron Horse and Alamo Canal trails meet, which is about one mile from both BART and your posted starting spot. --Russell--

Great, I bought a used recumbent last month & learning how to ride it still so a flat training ride sounds good.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
