  • Jun 18, 2014 · 6:30 PM

Join us at Box headquarters in Los Altos for food, refreshments (beer!), networking and Solr presentations from LucidWorks' Tim Potter and Wei Zhao from Box.

6:30pm-7:00pm: Networking & Refreshments

7:00pm-8:00pm: Presentations

"Benchmarking Solr Performance at Scale", Tim Potter, LucidWorks

Summary: Organizations continue to adopt Solr because of its ability to scale to meet even the most demanding workflows. Recently, LucidWorks has been leading the effort to identify, measure, and expand the limits of Solr. As part of this effort, we've learned a few things along the way that should prove useful for any organization wanting to scale Solr. Attendees will come away with a better understanding of how sharding and replication impact performance. Also, no benchmark is useful without being repeatable; Tim will also cover how to perform similar tests using the Solr-Scale-Toolkit in Amazon EC2.

Speaker: Tim Potter is a Lucene/Solr committer and Sr. Engineer at LucidWorks. He recently co-authored Solr in Action.

"Box + Solr = Content Search for Business", Wei Zhao, Box

Summary: As a cloud storage company, one of Box's challenges is making business files easy to find.  This talk will explore what the challenges they faced and how they solved them.

Speaker: Wei Zhao is a Backend Engineer at Box

8:00pm-8:30pm: Open announcements, Wrap-up
