OK, so let's see what we can accomplish with this group!
First, a little about me, the organizer. I have been in branding, merchandising, marketing, and product development for over over 20 years. I have worked mainly in the fashion and home industries, and owned a store in Hayes Valley, called 'Friend' from 2003-2007. Now I am merchandising and developing product for a national home furnishings chain.
What I envision for this group: A place to share designs and design ideas in a positive environment while meeting other design nuts. All disciplines will be invited, including industrial design, web, furniture, graphic and any other design area that may come up. We also plan on having 'movie nights' showing design related flicks. In addition,we will work to arrange some tours of design facilities and agencies in the Bay Area. If you are making something and want to share your travails or just interested in the design world, then you are invited!
Where Meetups will be held: Through the partnership of one of our members, we have a great space in San Francisco, South of Market. Details will be available when we schedule our next meetup.
