Please join us for our first ever game night! Whether you're a dedicated tabletop gamer, a Monopoly maven, a closet card shark, or haven't had the chance to play in years, this night is going to be a lot of fun. Gaming is a great way to get to know your fellow members, whether you've known them for a while or are meeting them for the first time, and we're sure this will be a memorable event. You're welcome to bring guests as well.
This event will be BYOG (Bring Your Own Games), and we'll have a decent amount of space to spread out in. Please use the comment thread here to announce what you'll be bringing (or to request something you'd like to play, in case anyone is willing to bring it). You can bring board games, checkers/chess/backgammon, etc. card games, Jenga, Taboo, or almost any other game you can think of. The only limitations are that you be able to play it indoors on a table, and that it's publicly appropriate (e.g. not 'strip' anything or a drinking game), though we will be in the reception room where we hold book discussions, not the main restaurant, so you can expect our group to be private. If you have questions as to the appropriateness of a game choice or any questions on setup, etc., please feel free to contact us here.
A little friendly competition is a good thing, but let's keep in mind that our conduct policies will apply as always (to both members and their guests). We expect all our members to treat their fellow participants with respect and consideration as we play, and to make sure to welcome other playerswho may want to participate in a game you're setting up or participating in.
The restaurant has a great menu of snacks, shareable appetizers, entrees, and desserts, along with a full drinks menu, and we'd appreciate it if everyone attending does order something, since Houlihan's is being so generous giving us the space to use. As such, please refrain from bringing any outside food or beverage as well. We've also arranged special drink pricing for our game night: $5 bottled beer (Sam Adams, New Castle, Heineken, etc.); $4 domestics (Miller Lite, Coors Light, Bud Light), and $4/glass of house wine.
