NaNoWriMo: National Novel Writing Month Weekly Write-In

November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), an annual creative writing project that challenges you to write 50,000 words of a new novel over the course of the month of November.

Whether you've always been meaning to start a novel, or you've been kicking around an idea that you know would make a great story, or you used to write and haven't had time in ages...this could be a fun way to spark your imagination and unleash your inner bard. Best of all, you can tackle the challenge with friends to support and encourage you.

NaNoWriMo's website also gives you the chance to interact with other writers from across the world, and receive tips and advice from some of your favorite authors.

Even if you don't have the time to fully participate in a 50,000 word project, write-in sessions are a great way to put in a few hours of intensive writing in a group setting. Take on a short story, or just write an opening chapter!

These meetings are also a great chance to discuss your past experience, current progress or approach, ideas you've had, schedule write-in sessions, and anything else you need to help you succeed.

Please bring laptops and headphones (if you prefer to write to a soundtrack or want to block out noise). The write-ins will be a bit different than our usual monthly writers meetup. This is set up as time to productively write, so we ask that all attendees respect that others may not work effectively with loud conversation or distractions. We do still want the write-ins to be fun and supportive; we encourage anyone who wants to talk through writing issues or challenges to do so (if it's a longer or more in-depth conversation we can step into the main library or go to the coffee shop next door). Also, food and drinks are allowed in the library. We may also build in some time to relax and socialize into the time block, if everyone is comfortable with that.

Kingstowne Library is located on the back side of the strip mall (parallel to Telegraph Rd). We'll be meeting in the Kingstowne Meeting Room (we have the room until 5pm). There will be free wi-fi and power outlets available. There are also a number of great food options in the Landsdowne Center, including Greek/Italian, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, and American, if people want to grab food during or after.

This is all I learned at today's meetup about myself... But in all honesty, thank you for calling on me when I raised my hands and for answering all my questions ;) You guys brainstormed some great ideas and just talking about the verse helped! Further, I am now committed to abstaining from bestiality in my kids book.

I have to miss this one to get ready for a trip out of town, but I'll get some writing done at home in between errands, etc.
Hope you guys have a great session!

Hi everyone! Hope your Week 3 is proceeding better than the dreaded Week 2.

Just your weekly reminder that I'll be hosting a write-in at the Panera on OKM & Rolling Road from 6-9PM. Come for writing, commiseration, and trying Panera's new seasonal menu items! :P

Hey all - I'll be bringing food on Saturday, since Kovit's crockpot will only be with us in spirit :) Any allergies I should be aware of? If so, feel free to shoot me a message and I'll take it into account. See you on Saturday!
